 The Grundy County, IL 911 Center is accepting applications for the position of Telecommunicator.

Telecommunicator job responsibilities include, but are not limited to answering 9-1-1 telephones, transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio, relaying information via the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, and answering administrative lines serving police, fire, and EMS. 

Salary: Will vary depending upon acceptance of a full-time or part-time position.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Grundy County, IL 911 Center: 

  • U.S. citizenship;  
  • Minimum of 21 years of age at time of application;
  • Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent;
  • Ability to pass a written examination, a full police background investigation, psychological exam, drug, hearing, and vision screenings;
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime that may be mandatory;
  • Schedule flexibility and multi-tasking skills are paramount;
  • Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee

Beneficial qualifications include:

  • Previous experience in a public-safety environment, preferably in 9-1-1 dispatching;  
  • Experience with computer-based, multi-line telephone equipment;
  • Computer/data-entry experience;
  • Full-access LEADS (Law Enforcement Agency Data System) certification;
  • EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) certification;
  • CPR/AED certification

Submission of Application:

Applications MUST be submitted online by Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 4:00 PM (CST).  Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. Applications submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted. 

Mandatory Orientation and Written Examination Testing   Following completion of all application materials and review of minimum qualifications, successful applicants will be invited to attend the following.
