The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Alsip, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of entry level police officers with the Alsip Police Department. There are currently five immediate vacancies for police department employment.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Alsip:
- U.S. Citizenship;
- Possess a valid state-issued driver's license and qualify for an Illinois driver's license at time of hire;
- Minimum of 20 years of age -AND- UNDER 35 years of age at the time at time of application and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by State statute 65ILCS 5/10-2.1-6(d) which provides in part that the age limitation does not apply to a person previously employed as a Certified (full-time) Law Enforcement Officer in a municipality in the United States;
- Applicant must be a minimum of 21 years old to be hired as a police officer;
- High school graduate -OR- GED equivalent;
- Must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours at an accredited college, university or junior college (official transcripts will be required at the background investigation stage);
- Applicants with military experience must submit a DD-214 indicating status of discharge with application;
- Acquire Illinois residency within 18-month probationary period;
- Must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Test card issued no more than 12 months prior to the written exam date (March 11, 2023);
- P.O.W.E.R. Test Cards issued by NIPSTA, Triton College, or Joliet Junior College will be accepted.
- Pay a $30.00 non-refundable application processing fee.
A maximum of (5) preference points will be awarded as determined by the Village of Alsip for any one the following:
- Education: Persons who have successfully obtained an Associate's Degree in the field of law enforcement or criminal justice, -OR- a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Copy of unofficial transcripts must be submitted with application to qualify.
- Experience: Persons who have been awarded a certificate of successful completion of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course (Certified Illinois Police Officer). Copy of state-issued certification must be submitted with application to qualify.
- Military: Persons who were engaged in the military or naval service of the United States for at least one year, and were honorably discharged, -OR- who are now, or may hereafter be on inactive or reserve duty in such military or naval service. A copy of Form DD-214 or equivalent proof of current military service must be submitted with application to qualify.

Applications MUST be submitted online by Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 4:00 PM (CST). Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. Applications submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted.
