The Civil Service Commission of the Village of North Riverside, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the North Riverside Police Department.
Salary: Starting at $77,422.79 with cap out in 7 years at $121,633.14. Longevity increases at 20 years ($124,065.79) and 25 years ($126,547.10)

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of North Riverside:
- U.S. citizenship;
- No felony convictions (Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offense may also disqualify applicants from further consideration);
- Valid state-issued driver's license;
- Minimum of 21 years of age AND shall be under the age of 35 by the application deadline date (June 9, 2025) unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in Section 5/0-7 and 5/10-1-12 of the Civil Service Act;
- Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. or High School Proficiency Statement;
- Must be able to participate in and successfully complete all stages of the testing process;
- Possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Test card not older than six (6) months from the written exam date (June 18, 2025). P.O.W.E.R. Test cards issued by Triton College, NIPSTA, or Joliet Junior College will be accepted. The P.O.W.E.R. Test card must be maintained throughout the time your name is on the eligibility list;
- Must successfully complete an oral interview;
- Must successfully complete a background investigation (applicants will be required to fully disclose all personnel matters, to include agreements and sealed files);
- Must successfully complete a psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, and medical physical (including drug and alcohol screening);
- Pay a $25.00 non-refundable application processing fee.
Submission of Application:
Applications MUST be submitted online by Monday, June 9, 2025 at 4:00 PM (CST). Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. Applications submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted.
Mandatory On-line Written Examination Testing: Following completion of all application materials and review of minimum qualifications, successful applicants will be invited to participate in remote on-line written exam testing available between Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 9:00 AM and Friday, June 20, 2025 at 4:00 PM. Candidates will need to have access to a laptop or desktop computer. All candidates will receive an email approximately one week prior regarding their status in the process, along with further instructions for taking the on-line written exam. NOTE: Please be sure to check your email spam folder. Many email account providers automatically send our emails there in error (i.e. Google, Yahoo, etc.).
