The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Chicago Ridge, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of entry level police officers with the Chicago Ridge Police Department. Testing is being conducted for immediate openings and to establish an eligibility list for anticipated future hiring needs.

Salary: $72,450.00 (Starting); $92,040.18 (After two years); $114,017.49 (Top Salary)

The primary mission of the Chicago Ridge Police Department is to treat all with respect and dignity. All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Chicago Ridge:
- Must be a United States Citizen or compliant with 55 ILCS 5/3-6033;
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age at the time of appointment;
- Must be under the age of 35 or meet the exemption outlined in the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Act of the Illinois Compiled Statutes (65 ILCS5/10-2.1-6);
- Must have valid Illinois driver’s license in good standing;
- Must have a high school diploma (or GED);
- Applicants must not have been convicted of any crime, or be guilty of infamous or notoriously disgraceful conduct. Also, applicants must have no felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude, as specified in Section 10-2.1-6 of the Illinois Municipal Code;
- All appointed police officers, within one year of appointment, shall make his/her place of residence within the following Illinois counties: Cook, DuPage, Kane Will and Grundy;
- Must be proportionate height and weight to perform police duties as prescribed by the Illinois Police Training Board. Must be able to successfully meet the requirements of the P.O.W.E.R. Test at the academy;
- Must be able to speak, write, and understand the English language;
- Must meet all the eligibility requirements as set forth in Section 10-2, 1-6 of the Illinois Municipal Code;
- Applicants with military experience must submit a DD-214 indicating status of discharge with application;
- Must participate in a mandatory written examination and orientation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 8:00 AM;
- Oral interview, psychological examination, polygraph test, physical examination, fingerprinting, and thorough personal background investigation will be administered as necessary;
- Pay a $25.00 non-refundable application processing fee.
Preference points will be awarded as determined by the Village of Chicago Ridge for any one the following:
- Education: Persons who have successfully obtained an Associate's Degree in the field of law enforcement or criminal justice, -OR- a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Copy of unofficial transcripts must be submitted with application to qualify.
- Experience: Persons who have been awarded a certificate of successful completion of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course (Certified Illinois Police Officer) and currently employed as a law enforcement officer part-time or full-time. Copy of state-issued certification must be submitted with application to qualify.
- Chicago Ridge Police Department Part-Time Experience: Any candidate currently employed with the Chicago Ridge Police Department as a part-time officer will be eligible to claim service points.
- Military: Persons who were engaged in the military or naval service of the United States for at least one year, and were honorably discharged, -OR- who are now, or may hereafter be on inactive or reserve duty in such military or naval service. A copy of Form DD-214 or equivalent proof of current military service must be submitted with application to qualify.

Applications MUST be submitted online by Monday, March 16, 2026 at 4:00 PM (CST). Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. Applications submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted.
