The Board of Police Commissioners of the Village of Minooka, Illinois is accepting applications for Entry-Level Police Officer Applicants with the Minooka Police Department.

Salary:  $78,290 - $108,680; certified officer eligible to start higher depending on experience.

Special assignments: Detective, SRO, K9 Handler, Drone Operator, Will/Grundy/Kendall Major Crime task force, Kendall County Special Response Team, Grundy County Pro-Act, ILEAS MFF team, Honor Guard

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Minooka: 

  • U.S. Citizen or compliant with 55 ILCS 5/3-6033;
  • Minimum of 21 years of age AND shall be under the age of 35 by the application deadline date (May 11, 2026) unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in Section 5/10-2.1-6 of the Fire and Police Commissioner's Act;
  • Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent;
  • Possess a valid State of Illinois driver's license;
  • Must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examination and training requirements, including, but not limited to: background investigation, psychological, and medical examination, etc.;
  • No felony or certain misdemeanor convictions;
  • Pay a $20.00 non-refundable application processing fee.

Preference Points will be awarded for military, education, and member of Minooka Police explorer program.

Submission of Application:

Applications MUST be submitted online by Monday, May 11, 2026 at 4:00 PM (CST).  Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. Applications submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted. 

 

Mandatory On-line Written Examination Testing: Following completion of all application materials and review of minimum qualifications, successful applicants will be invited to participate in remote on-line written exam testing available between Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 9:00 AM and Friday, May 22, 2026 at 4:00 PM. Candidates will need to have access to a laptop or desktop computer. All candidates will receive an email approximately one week prior regarding their status in the process, along with further instructions for taking the on-line written exam. NOTE: Please be sure to check your email spam folder. Many email account providers automatically send our emails there in error (i.e. Google, Yahoo, etc.).
