Village of Maywood, Illinois Police Department

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Maywood, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the Maywood Police Department.  

Starting Salary: $60,980.35; Immediate increase after 18 months to $84,365.91;
Fourth year salary: $115,148.05

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Maywood:

  • U.S. citizenship or legally authorized to work in the U.S.;
  • No felony convictions;
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent;
  • Valid Illinois driver's license; 
  • Minimum of 21 years of age (by November 9, 2026) -AND- must be UNDER 35 years of age as of date of hire, unless otherwise exempt by State Statute;
  • Must meet the requirements of a background check;
  • Must pass a medical, psychological and polygraph test;
  • $30.00 non-refundable application processing fee.

Preference Points will be awarded as determined by the Village of Maywood for the following: 

  • Military: Persons who were engaged in the military or naval service of the United States for at least one year, and were honorably discharged. A copy of Form DD-214 (indicating status of discharge) must be submitted with application to qualify; -OR-
  • Educational Preference:  Candidates must have successfully obtained an Associate’s Degree in the field of law enforcement or criminal justice; or a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Transcripts (official preferred) or copy of diploma must be submitted with application to qualify. Official transcripts will be required at the Background Investigation stage.  

  • Residency (Primary Domicile) Points: Persons residing in the Village of Maywood for the last 3 years.  Must provide proof of residency for points.

Submission of Application:

Applications are limited to the first 100 applications submitted online (NOT PURCHASED) -OR- Applications submitted online by the deadline date of Monday, November 9, 2026 at 4:00 pm (CST), whichever occurs first.  Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. Applications submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted.
